About the region

Our district is situated in Wolastokuk, the homelands of the Wolastoqiyik people, whose namesake comes from the Wolastoq, a majestic river that moves through the heart of our district.

Mission and values

Our vision: All individuals engaged within our system are empowered to assist in building resilient, confident and contributing members of our communities.

Leadership and Governance

Everyday decisions are made by the district’s leadership team. Long-term strategy and planning are directed by the District Education Council. Parents and students provide input via the Parent School Support Committee.

Schools and Facilities

Our district is comprised of 70 schools across the western region of New Brunswick. Each school belongs to one of three education centres, which implement and manage regional requirements. Two adjunct centres—the Newcomer Support Centre and the Enterprise Centre—operate district wide with programs and services for specific students and families.

Over 3000 employees and countless volunteers are making a difference in New Brunswick through education.
