Accessibility

Overview

Anglophone West School District strives to deliver an accessible website experience to all of its users. We believe there is no “right way” to experience a website, and so have strived to build something can be accessed equitably by eye, ear, or touch.

Standards

The design and functionality of our website has been guided by Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2 (WCAG 2), which are largely considered to be the world-wide web standard for accessibility.

Features

Our website implements a number of features suggested by WCAG, including:

  • Alternative descriptions for images.
  • Implicit page structure through nested headings.
  • Minimum color contrast ratios between elements.

We have opted not to include page zoom controls or color contrast control. These features are often best provided by operating systems and web browsers.
