December 2023 marked the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), a milestone human rights document that established fundamental rights and freedoms for citizens worldwide. In commemoration of this special anniversary, the New Brunswick Human Rights Commission launched a new webpage featuring a wealth of resources on the main author of the UDHR, John Peters Humphrey, a human rights advocate born in Hampton, N.B.

As part of this project, the Commission is introducing a new resource for teachers called Teaching Human Rights in New Brunswick: A Teacher’s Handbook. The handbook is designed to assist educators across the province in guiding their students through the UDHR and the importance of upholding human rights, equality, and diversity in our province.
