Fredericton, N.B. – Parents, guardians, and anyone invested in the well-being of children are invited to the launch of a new podcast at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18 at Fredericton’s The Blank Space, 117 York St., Unit 302.

The Parenting On Purpose podcast—created by Fredericton High School Vice-Principal Laurie Pearson, produced by Fredericton’s Same As Forever Creative Studio, and funded by Public Safety Canada’s Building Safer Communities initiative as distributed through United Way Central New Brunswick—is designed to help parents and guardians understand and deal with some of the issues their school-age children may be experiencing.

Pearson hosts the podcast.

As they grow and become more independent, teens and tweens may find themselves confronted with certain moral quandaries for the first time. Children may find themselves dealing with issues of mental and sexual health, violence, addictions, and more.

The Parenting On Purpose podcast, Episode 1.

The podcast’s five 10-to-25-minute-long episodes address the following issues children may face:

  • Addictions
  • Violence, youth crime, sextortion
  • Anxiety
  • Parenting support and healthy communication with teenagers
  • Victoria Health Center: Mental health services

“My hope is that the podcast will make parents aware of services available to them, minimize the barriers to access services, and help them realize they are not alone in the parenting journey,” said Pearson.

Event Location Details: 5:00 p.m. @ The Blank Space, 117 York St., Unit 302, Fredericton, N.B.
